This painting is the fourth in a series of three that I’ve created, inspired by the vivid and dramatic imagery of the book of Revelation. Specifically, it depicts the Fourth Trumpet from Revelation 8:12, where a third of the sun, moon, and stars are struck, causing a profound darkness that affects both day and night. As the passage says, “A third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.” This darkness is symbolic of the death it brings to the plants of the earth and the ominous shifts in the heavens.

In this painting, I have used symbolism to represent how I envision this scene unfolding—a vision of cosmic change that mirrors the biblical prophecy. The stark contrast between light and dark is emphasized, with the encroaching shadows overtaking the sun, moon, and stars, creating a hauntingly somber atmosphere. The interplay of light and darkness represents the dire consequences of the trumpet’s sound, a time of judgment and transformation.
